Peter Granados
ABOUT
Born in Chicago, painter Peter Granados spent his childhood in California within the so-called “Fourth Way School,” an esoteric organization founded on principles developed by Russian mystic G.I. Gurdjieff. The school’s commitment to a life of beauty—plus what Granados now sees as a perversion of Eastern spiritualism—is central to his narrative-driven work as a painter. Based in New York, Granados begins each work as a short story, before transforming the stories into lively brushstrokes and alluring mixture of elegant abstraction and whimsical figuration.

ABOUT
Sargent’s Daughters opened on New York’s Lower East Side in 2013. The gallery’s name is an homage to the painter John Singer Sargent (1856–1925), who bridged new American and established European influences in his work. The gallery focuses on representing contemporary artists who are similarly pushing boundaries while working in traditional artistic mediums.
