Jemima Kirke
ABOUT
British-born American painter Jemima Kirke was in the studio at age seven, when her mother transformed a wine cellar into the fledgling artist’s first art studio. Kirke’s figurative work often centers on the many faces of womanhood, including a well-received 2017 series of bride paintings. Also an accomplished actress—she portrayed Jessa on the hit HBO series Girls—Kirke graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and is now based in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

ABOUT
Sargent's Daughters
Sargent’s Daughters opened on New York’s Lower East Side in 2013. The gallery’s name is an homage to the painter John Singer Sargent (1856–1925), who bridged new American and established European influences in his work. The gallery focuses on representing contemporary artists who are similarly pushing boundaries while working in traditional artistic mediums.
