Shane Walsh's paintings are inspired by collage and the legacy of hip-hop. His work is a response to the history of abstract painting - Walsh’s mashup of geometric forms and bright colors looks like a collaged version of some of Frank Stella’s paintings. His distortions show how our understanding of abstraction is altered as paintings are transmitted and reproduced through time and culture.
