Michael Brown

Michael Brown’s transcendent, subtly complicated works draw from a wealth of inspiration: common objects from daily life, his father’s welding profession, American Pop art, the pencil drawing of Agnes Martin. Although at first glance they appear simple and calm, many featuring a gold circle with lines radiating outwards, they are layered with impasto paint and 24 karat gold, creating surprisingly complex patterns.
