Acutely aware of the power dynamics that shape art and design, artist Amir Nikravan (b. 1983) prompts us to consider our surroundings with a more critical eye. His hybrid objects encompass multiple identities—they’re both paintings and sculptures, both minimalist and ornate—reflecting his own lived experience as a queer Iranian-Mexican-American raised in Los Angeles.
